Kathmandu: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rebounded on Tuesday, gaining 9.24 points to end a six-day losing streak that followed the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli floods, with investors regaining their confidence on hydropower shares.
The hydropower sector, which had come under heavy pressure following the floods, posted the strongest sectoral gain, rising 1.01 percent. All sectors except manufacturing and processing, which fell 1 percent, recorded gains.
Upper Mailung Khola Hydropower posted the biggest gain, rising 7.15 percent. MBL Equity Fund gained 5.88 percent, followed by Emerging Nepal (4.85%), Sanjen Hydropower (3.81%), Menchiyam Hydropower (3.69%), and Mandu Hydropower (3.61%).
The secondary market initially fell by nearly 17 points in the first 25 minutes before reaching the day’s high of 2,537.74 points within the first hour. It remained largely stable for the rest of the session with only minor fluctuations.
Daily turnover fell to Rs 2.89 billion from Rs 3.64 billion on the previous trading day. Share prices of 181 companies increased, while 84 declined and 12 remained unchanged.
Among the most actively traded companies, Solu Hydropower led with transactions worth Rs 138.27 million, followed by Shivam Cement, Aankhukhola Hydropower, Ridi Power, Sanima Middle Tamor, and Chilime Hydropower.
