Kathmandu : Government has aimed to extend electricity access to cent percent populations in the next two years.

For this purpose, the government will be promoting micro and small hydropower projects and solar power projects in the remote areas, which do not have access to the grid based electricity supply. Announcing the budget for the fiscal year 2023/24, Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat said the government will also be promoting production of different forms of alternative energy for the purpose.

Likewise, the government has announced to increase per capita electricity consumption to 400 units per hour in the next fiscal year. This is expected to significantly lower imports of petroleum products.
