Kathmandu; Hydropower group on Sunday shed 24.19 points to close at 2,525.79 points due to the dilly-dallying in the appointment of the finance minister amid banks reporting with increased non-performing loans.

The group’s index was adversely affected along with a downhill of the overall market index. Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) lost 26.85 points to close at 1,888.29 points. The Nepse came below 1,900 points in the past three months.

The hydropower group opened at 2,549.98 points and had a straight fall of 29 points in the first half an hour of trading. However, the group gained 13 points in the next few minutes, while the sub-index stood stable for the next two hours before it closed for the day.

Despite a fall in hydropower index, Maya Khola Hydropower Company Limited and Asian Hydropower Limited topped the gainers’ lists.
