Kathmandu: Eight hydropower projects with a production capacity of 86.295 MW applied at the Department of Electricity Development (DoED) to receive construction licenses in the past one month.

According to the DoED, the hydropower projects with capacities between four megawatt to 35 MW applied at the department to receive the construction license. Of the applicants, Mid Chameliya Hydropower Project was the largest.

Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company applied at the DoED to construct 14.5 MW Budum Hydropower Project and Mewa Developers applied for its 9.3 MW Siwakhola Hydropower Project. Likewise, 4.8 MW Syalku Khola, 5.4 MW Rawa Khola, 6.3 MW Sabha Khola Cascade, 6.2 MW Lower Khani-B and 4.795 MW Super Iwa Khola are among others.
