Kathmandu: Gham Power has partnered with Swanbarton, Hit power, scene connect and practical action to introduce the Grid Resilience through Intelligent Photovoltaic Storage (GRIPS) research project, marking a significant step towards ensuring reliable and high-quality electricity supply in Nepal.

The collaboration is part of the ongoing Grid Resilience through Intelligent Photovoltaic Storage (GRIPS) research project, aimed at establishing smart grids in Nepal. The key innovation lies in a sophisticated storage system capable of seamlessly transitioning between grid supply, battery, and solar power during outages, thereby enhancing the overall reliability of energy supply.

 Key Highlights:

 Clean Tech Adoption:
GRIPS is designed to promote the adoption of clean technology, eliminating the reliance on polluting power sources. This aligns with global efforts to mitigate climate risks and reduce carbon emissions.

 Project Duration:
The two-year GRIPS research project is currently in its piloting phase and is expected to conclude next year. The timeframe underscores a thorough examination of the smart battery and solar integration into the grid.

 Impact on Power Cuts:
Anticipated as a game-changer, GRIPS aims to demonstrate how smart batteries and solar power can complement the existing grid, leading to a reduction in power cuts and an enhancement of overall stability.

Gham Power Nepal Pvt. Ltd emerged as a pioneering force during times of extended power cuts, completing 4000 solar-powered projects and installing 5.82MW of solar capacity.  The GRIPS project signifies a progressive approach towards sustainable energy solutions, bringing together international expertise and cutting-edge technology. As the research progresses through its pilot phase, it holds the promise of providing tangible evidence of the efficacy of smart grids in Nepal.
