Kathmandu : Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has invited the promoters of hydropower projects for the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The NEA has called for the promoters to engage in PPA negotiations until the specified upper limits are reached for run-of-river (ROR) and semi-reservoir (PROR) hydropower projects, set at 6,750 MW and 4,500 MW, respectively.

The NEA also says that the PPA process will be moved forward according to the roll order based on the date of completion of the grid connection agreement with the NEA.

In an official notice published on Tuesday, the NEA has called upon promoter companies involved in the PPA process, as well as the Electricity Regulatory Commission, to review and finalize the draft PPA. They are also required to submit the necessary authorizations, performance bank guarantees, and the PPA fee for the purpose of signing the agreement.

According to the notice, if the application is not received within the specified period or if the documents required for the application are not received within the specified period, the NEA will also remove the projects from the roll order and proceed with the PPA process of the subsequent projects that have completed the grid connection agreement based on the roll order.
