Kathmandu; A group of experts from Nepal and India has started discussion in Kathmandu on Friday to finalize the detailed project report (DPR) of Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project.
Sushil Chandra Tiwari, secretary at the Water and Energy Commission leads a Nepal delegation at the meeting while the Indian side is headed by India's Central Water Commission Chairperson Kushvinder Vohra.
The meeting is expected to discuss the overall aspects of the project. Pancheswor's DPR was prepared by India's state-owned Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS) in 2016.
During the last visit to India by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, from May 31 to June 3, it was agreed to finalize the Pancheshwor's DPR in the next three months.
Shortly after the Prime Minister's India visit, a meeting of the project's governing body was held in Kaski on July 6-7 and the meeting extended the term of the joint panel of experts. The bi-national power plant to be developed in the Mahakali River bordering Nepal and India has the capacity of generating 6,480 megawatts of electricity.
