Kathmandu: The 30 MW Dhalkebar-2 Solar Power Project in Dhanusha has secured a loan investment of Rs 1.36 billion from Everest Bank and Nepal SBI Bank.
According to the project developer, Integrated Engineering and Industrial Enterprises, the two banks have signed an agreement to finance the project. The total estimated project cost is Rs 1.95 billion, of which the banks will provide Rs 1.368 billion, equivalent to 70 percent, while the remaining Rs 587.6 million will be financed through equity.
The project has already signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in December 2025. The developer has also initiated the process of obtaining an operating licence from the Department of Electricity Development.
The developer said the financing agreement marks an important milestone in the project’s financial management and implementation.
The solar project is expected to generate around 59.9 million units of electricity annually after coming into operation. The generated electricity will be evacuated to the national grid through a 1.7-kilometre transmission line connecting the project to the NEA’s Dhalkebar Substation.
The project is targeted for completion within one year from the commencement of construction.
