Rescue Team Makes Breakthrough of Underground Powerhouse of Rasuwagadhi Hydropower

Kathmandu: A search operation has been launched to rescue 93 people who have gone missing from the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Station after the Bhotekoshi flood.

For this, the Nepali Army, has reached the access tunnel leading to the project's powerhouse and started the search along with the necessary equipment.

The entrance to the access tunnel to the project has been partially submerged by the flood. The project has stated that the rescue team has entered up to 40 meters by removing obstacles and the rescue strategy is to move forward by cleaning.

Those who are missing from the project include 49 employees of the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company, two daily-wage staff and workers from various companies involved in the construction.

Four of the six people trapped in the project’s tunnel managed to get out on their own after two days. They were rescued by the Nepali Army via helicopter and taken to Kathmandu.
