Kathmandu: The Solar Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (SOPPAN) has provided 1,000 solar LED lights to the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) in relief for communities affected by the floods in the Bhotekoshi River on August 26.
SOPPAN President Sandip Shah handed over the relief materials to AEPC Executive Director Navaraj Dhakal amid a program. These solar LED lights are expected to help meet the immediate lighting needs of families and communities in flood-affected areas where electricity supplies have been disrupted and access to essential services has been cut off.
Shah stated that the support aligns with SOPPAN's commitment to the practical application of solar technology in areas where energy is most needed. These portable solar lights will facilitate movement during the evening hours without relying on the central electricity grid and will assist in relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Shah noted that SOPPAN undertook this initiative to support the ongoing relief campaign aimed at providing flood-affected communities with access to clean energy through the AEPC, which serves as the government’s central agency for renewable energy and energy efficiency.
SOPPAN is an umbrella organization for grid-connected solar power producers. It promotes renewable energy transformation, utility-scale solar projects, and technologies such as agri-solar in Nepal.
